Sad news. Although completely different characters I always considered him the Steve Davis of the Darts world in terms of his dominance over the sport on the eighties who was toppled by a younger better player. Phil Taylor in Bristow’s case, Stephen Hendry in Davis’ case. Bristow also had to battle Dartsitis which nearly ruined his career.

The first superstar of Darts, R.I.P Eric Bristow he had the funniest looking throw in darts it actually looked quite majestic, or poncy if your working class.
Goes without saying he was far too young to pass away and it is a very sad day for darts and darts fans .

Always liked Bristow, think a lot of his arrogance was tongue in cheek, a decent fella by all accounts and not afraid to speak his mind.
Apparently he and his wife would rescue stray or abandoned cats and then re home them, RIP Eric, you will be missed.

I was only watching a great documentary about the glory days of darts last night, which of course featured plenty of Bristow.
Him and Sid Wadell made darts required viewing back in the day.
